Please note that not all of the breeders and hatcheries shown on the map are selling exhibition-quality Ameraucanas. Many breeders and hatcheries sell Ameraucanas that are not show-quality. Exhibitioners usually call these birds “Easter Eggers,” but many breeders and hatcheries still consider them “Ameraucanas.”

However, if you are not planning on exhibiting your birds at chickens shows, it really doesn’t matter if you buy show-quality Ameraucanas or not. All strains are wonderful, and birds who aren’t show-quality are better layers on average.
If, on the other hand, you are planning on exhibiting your birds, you’ll need to check with your breeder or hatchery to determine if their birds are suitable for this purpose.
